| The widespread use of personal
computers for archiving data and networking demands a flexible data
handling scheme. With DUŽ Series 600 and 7000
Spectrophotometers, various options are available to simplify and
automate storage, retrieval and transmission of data.
Virtual Disk Expansion
The Virtual Disk Expansion accessory (P/N 514252) expands the
internal memory (virtual drive A) of the instrument. This
battery-backed RAM allows for the storage of up to 1 MB for methods,
data and results.
External Storage Device
The optional External Storage Device (P/N 514244), or drive B,
stores information on 3.5-inch diskettes and allows the user to
transfer files to a computer via disk. Methods and data are easily
retrieved from the External Storage Device into the instrument with
a click of the mouse.
The File Utility mode in DU Series 600 and 7000
Spectrophotometers includes copy, move, rename and delete functions.
File conversion to ASCII and Lotus* 1-2-3 format can be performed on
either the A or the B drive.
This option is recommended when mass storage and sharing of data
with other DU Series 600 and 7000 instruments is required. Multiple
file transfers between diskettes and the spectrophotometer are
easily made with this option.
DU WinConnection Suite
The DU WinConnection Suite is a 32-bit a Microsoft* Windows*
application package that allows the user to transfer files from the
spectrophotometer via the serial interface (RS-232) to the local
drive of a computer or to a network drive.
The File Utility Software included in the software suite can be
installed on multiple individual computers allowing individual users
to review and print data residing on the network as well converting
file to specified formats.

Bar Code Reader
The Bar Code Reader (P/N 514243) allows positive sample
identification from standard bar codes to be read into the
spectrophotometer. Requires Accessory Option Board (P/N 517036; DU
Series 600 only) and Keyboard (P/N 514666).
