SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo*

The Beckman Coulter presence this year at the Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting & ToxExpo in Seattle was a hit! A breezy, 46°F day in Seattle didn’t chill the booth activity as many visitors to the exhibit were welcomed with the Complete Toxicology Solution ranging from Agencourt® Chemistries on Biomek® liquid handling platforms to our cellular analysis Quanta™ SC MPL Flow Cytometer. The GenomeLab™ GeXP Genetic Analysis system created a stir; as well as interest in the DTX Series multimode detectors that can be integrated to our Biomek liquid handlers.

In addition to a thorough product display, Beckman Coulter hosted two workshops including:

1. Multiplex Gene Expression for toxicology screening of target compounds. Gordan Vasant (Althea Technologies, San Diego, CA)

2. gTox Flow Kit: No-Wash, Room-Temperature, Fully Automated
Flow Cytometric Detection of Murine Peripheral Blood Micronucleated Erythrocytes. Emmanuel Gautherot (Head of R&D, Beckman Coulter, Marseilles, France)

These workshops attracted quite the crowd with many questions for our featured speakers. Guests arrived to these workshops hungry and left full of knowledge regarding these two hot subjects. Popular discussion topics included Beckman Coulter’s ability to multiplex gene expression up to 30 genes per well with our GeXP Genetic Analysis System when compared to one gene with traditional RT-PCR; and the simplicity of our gTox Flow Kits that allow for fast, easy flow detection of murine blood cells.
