Inflammation is a complex process involving interactions between different cell types and is partially mediated by adhesion molecules. Lung microvascular endothelial cells
(L-MVEC) represent major target cells in diseases associated with lung inflammation, such as Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Therefore, the search for novel anti-inflammatory factors acting on these cells is therapeutically promising. To this purpose, we have developed a novel, high-throughput screening assay making use of the PARADIGM™ Detection Platform from Beckman Coulter, for the identification of anti-inflammatory substances acting on human L-MVEC.
