Analyzing the protein expression profiles associated with the activation of an immune response is an important step in understanding the detailed mechanisms of the response. However, using currently available techniques, it has been difficult to analyze, in totality, the complex series of protein expression profiles and interactions associated with activation of an immune response.

The ProteomeLab™ PF 2D system provides a novel platform to enable the comprehensive mapping and differential analysis of proteins and peptides in complex mixtures. The technology utilizes a multi-dimensional chromatographic separation of proteins in liquid phase in a completely automated format. The net result is the generation of highly resolved, distinct protein profiles of complex proteomes based on pI and hydrophobicity that can be viewed effortlessly using the system software. The gel-free, liquid nature of the system allows for easy isolation of the proteins of interest in an intact state that can be further characterized by the ProteomeLab PA 800 system or techniques of ELISA, Western blot, and mass spectrometry.
