MS 150 Bike Ride
Team Beckman Coulter had a strong presence at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s 150 Mile Bike Tour in Southern California on October 8 & 9. The team made a significant contribution to the event by raising nearly $60,000 with the company’s matching funds. The bike tour left Huntington Beach on Saturday morning and finished in San Diego on Sunday, October 9.

Light The Night The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk on September 10 was a huge success. Our team of 88 from Orange County raised over $15,000 (with company match). During this walk, the walkers carried illuminated balloons to celebrate the lives of those affected by cancer.
City of Hope Walk
On October 9, 59 walkers representing Beckman Coulter turned out in support of the City of Hope/Walk for Hope in Duarte, California. Including the company match, they collected over $4,968 which is used for breast cancer research. Since most individuals have been touched by breast cancer, our employee response to this event has always been very positive.
Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is an overnight event that unites our community in a common effort to raise funds for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services. On August 12-13, 24 Beckman Coulter employees raised $2,400 which included company matching funds.
Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation Baskets
Over 150 Brea and Fullerton employees created and donated baskets for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation’s “Bid for the Kids’ event. 25 unique baskets were auctioned at the Foundation’s fundraising event.
Make a Difference Day
On October 22, as part of National Make a Difference Day, 27 Beckman Coulter employees, family and friends from Fullerton and Brea painted, constructed and landscaped the Orangethorpe Elementary school in Fullerton, California.
Legoland Walk
Our team won the award for the largest team with more than 150 walkers and we raised $8,000, which included company matching funds, for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Legoland Walk in April. Funds raised from this event support programs for people with MS and support a nationwide research program to find the cause, treatment and cure for MS.
Clean the Beach
In 2005, over 35 Beckman Coulter employees volunteered for three Beach Clean Up Days. They worked with other volunteers to pick up trash and recyclables along beaches, waterways, canyons and streets. In total over 2,500 volunteers helped out at 41 cleanup sites! Those hard-working volunteers picked up an estimated 102,000 pounds of debris.
San Diego Food Bank
In September, 26 Beckman Coulter Volunteers packed 1,147 boxes (1.8 Tons) of food in three hours! Our employees raised over $2,700 in donations and collected over 131 lbs of food.
